It is reported by Steven that A British Furniture Confederation (BFC) delegation, led by chairman Martin Jourdan, will meet with the Employment Relations, Consumer and Postal Affairs Minister Ed Davey MP on 28th April to discuss the ongoing review of the Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations. The delegation includes representatives from across the industry, as well as All Party Parliamentary Furniture Industry Group chair Stephen McPartland MP.
The BFC has also written to the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable MP, regarding remarks he made on Radio Five Live about reducing regulation, citing this as an example. The BFC emphasised the importance of the regulations in protecting consumers from unsafe products, that has ultimately saved lives.
Martin Jourdan says: “The BFC welcomes our ongoing dialogue with Government over these regulations and many other issues affecting the industry. The strength of British Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations is something our industry is proud of. It is vital we maintain strict rules to protect people from dangerous products that can cause fatal accidents.”
