Carl Hansen & Søn | Profile
Founded in 1908 - Carl Hansen & Son is one of Denmark’s oldest producers of fine furniture – and the world’s largest producer of furniture designed by Hans J. Wegner.
With its roots firmly planted in Danish traditional cabinetmaking and joinery, and with special insight in Danish wood sorts, Carl Hansen & Son became a preferred partner for innovative Danish furniture designers in the 1940’s.
The association between Hans J. Wegner and Carl Hansen & Son dates back to 1949, when production of the legendary “Wishbone Chair”, among others, was begun. Since then the close partnership has resulted in a number of other classic chairs.
“We are proud that many of our Wegner chairs have become sought after collectors’ items and museum pieces. And we are all the more proud that almost three generations of satisfied customers - in thousands of homes throughout Denmark, Scandinavia and the rest of the world - enjoy our Wegner chairs and tables every day, year after year,” says third-generation owner and managing director of Carl Hansen & Son, Knud Erik Hansen.
In 2003 Carl Hansen & Son opened a new, dedicated factory in Denmark. While the new facilities make use of the latest production technologies, traditional craftsmanship and long experience still form the heart of the competency of the Company.
Carl Hansen & Son maintains sales offices in Denmark, Canada, England and Japan and sells through a network of professional dealers in over 20 other countries.
